A total of 1 063 sanitary pads were distributed to five organisations

The Freeway Park Primary School prefects, in collaboration with the Grade Seven learners of the school, donated 1 063 sanitary pads to five organisations, as well as the school.

Beneficiaries included Chubby Chums, Masizakhe Family Centre, Kids Haven, Epworth Children’s Village, John Wesley and Freeway Park Primary.

The school’s head girl, Paballo Kubae, said the prefects ran a campaign against gender-based violence and a fight against cancer from August 21 to 31 to highlight the plight faced by women.

Freeway Park Primary School launched a gender-based violence and a fight against cancer campaign from August 21 to 31 where they collected 1 063 sanitary pads for five organisations that help women. With them are some of the beneficiaries.

“With the help of friends and family, learners collected the sanitary pads to assist women who can’t afford to buy them. From the 1 063 sanitary pads collected, we divided it accordingly between these organisations. We have chosen these organisations because they deal with a lot with women,” Kubae said.

Representatives from these organisations expressed their gratitude for the donation received.
