Shoppers pounce on Black Friday’s top deals

Thousands of people took advantage of Black Friday sales today

In Boksburg, thousands of shoppers flocked to local shopping centres to help themselves to the Black Friday deals available in various outlets this morning (November 27).
The Advertiser visited a couple of outlets at the East Rand Mall and East Point Shopping Centre, where shoppers arrived as as early as 6am to stock up on their favourite priced-slashed items, including household electrical appliances, handheld gadgets, clothing, food and other goods.

In line with the Covid-19 regulations, retailers only allowed a limited number of people in their store at a time. However, some people ignored the rules while queueing outside the outlets, with minor incidents of pushing.
According to Phindile Tshila, Superga store manager, shoppers started queueing outside their store before the business opened at 6am.
Inspectors and police officers from the Boksburg North SAPS were also deployed to monitor the situation and check if Covid-19 guidelines were being adhered to.
Meanwhile, at Pick n Pay Hypermarket the Advertiser observed that there were fewer shoppers compared to the previous year.
