Members of the EMPD and SAPS have been applauded for nabbing a man who has been on the wanted suspects’ list for allegedly terrorising residents of Ekurhuleni.
According to MMC for Community Safety Phaladi Mmoko, a joint tactical operational team, including the EMPD Specialised Tasked Team and SAPS Flying Squad, arrested the suspect in question, along with other four suspects, in Elsburg on November 21.
“During the arrest explosives, a number of cellphones and drugs were confiscated.
“The suspect was wanted for cases including attempted murder, malicious damage to property and common assault. A warrant of arrest was issued with a protection order against him,” explained Mmoko.
He described the suspect as a notorious character, adding that more cases are expected to be added against the suspect as the investigation continues.
Mmoko commended all the police units that were involved in this case.
“This proves that if we work together as police from all levels and our communities, there will be no space for crime and criminals in our communities,” he said.
The MMC pointed out that this arrest follows the operation that led to the rescue of two women who were suspected to have been kidnaped, along with the discovery of a huge amount of illicit substance in Bedfordview last week.
He stated that more arrests are imminent.
