Cancer event revives the spirits of cancer survivors

Cancer survivors used the event as a catch-up session following the five months of lockdown

About 100 guests, including cancer survivors and their friends and family, gathered at A’s Café hall in Van Dyk Park on October 24 for the cancer fund-raising awareness event.

The event, which started at 2pm, was aimed at raising awareness of cancer as well as educating women about the importance of knowing their bodies.

The event, which proved to be a success, was organised by breast and bone cancer survivor Gwen Janse van Rensburg and owner of A’s Café Aletta van den Heever.

Dressed to kill, guests wore stunning pink outfits to express their moral support for women with breast cancer.

During the event there was a candlelight ceremony to remember those who died due to cancer and it left a few people crying as they thought of their loved ones.

Nine-year-old Joshua Switala shared his cancer journey with the packed hall.
