Foundations feed hundreds of underprivileged children in Ramaphosa

Foundations' actions speak louder than words as they donate food, party packs, clothes and sanitary pads to Ramaphosa children and adults

Ray of Hope Foundations, the Community Development Foundation and Gift of the Givers joined hands on October 24 to bring a smile to children’s faces in Ramaphosa by feeding them.

The outreach, which took place along Idada Street, did not only attract young children but also adults from the area.

Before the distribution of the food, members from Ray of Hope Foundations, under the Ray of Hope Church in Ramaphosa, as well as members from Messiah Boat Ministries, used the opportunity to preach the Word of God to the community.

Attendees sang and danced to religious songs during the event.

Past Sandra Allies from Ray of Hope Foundations said: “We decided to host this special event for the children in order to make them feel happy. Our mandate as a church is to reach out to communities and show them love and support.”

According to Past Barlin Govender, founder of the Community Development Foundation based in Germiston, they usually facilitate outreach and feeding programmes in various communities when they see a need.

“We wanted to uplift the hearts of residents during this trying time and make our presence known in Ramaphosa by preaching the Word of the Lord to the lost souls,” Govender said.

A group of young men from the Victory Outreach men’s recovery home in Reiger Park also came through to share their addiction testimonies. They kept the crowd entertained with their songs and drama acts.

Holding some of the sanitary pads which were distributed to women in Ramaphosa is Vaneshree Haripersadh (Community Development Foundation), Past Barlin Govender (Community Development Foundation) and Past Sandra Allies (Ray of Hope Foundations).

About 200 children from the area also received their early Christmas party packs to take home. Meanwhile, about 50 women from the area received brand new clothing and sanitary pads.

Eleven-year-old Lisakhanya Lasmeisi enjoyed his meal during the event on October 24.

After the event, attendees were each showered with Bibles.
