Little girl receives a wheelchair donation

The nine-year-old girl will now have the freedom of mobility, thanks to the good Samaritans

Physically challenged Nompilo Ntle of Ramaphosa informal settlement received a brand new wheelchair from Ekupholeni Mental Health and Trauma Centre to help improve her quality of life on October 8.

She was also pampered with a blanket during the handover in Ramaphosa.

According to Mapheello Ramosoeu from the centre, they decided to donate to the little girl after they learnt about her plight.

The mother of the nine-year-old child, Beatrice Thabethe (59), expressed her gratitude for the donation.

“The wheelchair has made my job easier because I used to carry her when we go to the clinic, but now I’ll just push her,” Thabethe said.

Germiston-based company Johnson Matthey also extended its generosity to the mother as it donated a food parcel worth R500.

Ekupholeni Mental Health and Trauma Centre is based at the Reiger Park Police Station.

The centre works under the Victim-Friendly Rooms (VFRs). They provide counselling and deal with other issues, such as HIV and Aids, gender-based violence other related issues.
