Police arrest suspected drug dealers

Another person was arrested for interfering with arrest of a suspected drug dealer

Members of the EMPD arrested two people found in possession of narcotics in separate incidents during the blitz on criminal activities in Boksburg and Kwa-Thema areas on September 28.

According to EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng, it was during the two hour-long operation when officers from the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit nabbed the suspects and seized drugs, including crystal meth, dagga and nyaope.

In Boksburg, at about 10.30am they spotted a suspicious-looking 40-year-old idling on Du Plessis Road. They approached and requested to search him. In his possession, officers found one ziplock of khat, two ziplocks of crystal meth and five medium and large packets of dagga valued at R1 000.

The nabbed Kwa-Thema duo, with their cash and narcotics.

On Motsugi Street in Kwa-Thema, at about 11.45am, officers arrested a 31-year-old man found in possession of five knotted plastics of rock and 32 paper-wrapped nyaope valued at R1 500, stashed in a tennis ball, and R2 000 cash.

A 23-year-old passerby was arrested after he allegedly interfered with the arrests of his friend found in possession of drugs in Motsugi Street.

The suspects were taken to their respective police stations. The two men found in possession of drugs were charged with dealing and possession of drugs, and the friend is facing interfering with law enforcement charge. They are expected to appear in court soon.
