Help Hospice with private Covid testing

Hospice East Rand is having a challenging time with Covid-19

Covid-19 is not just affecting those who have it, but also Hospice healthcare workers who have to stay away from work awaiting results – therefore unableto help those who have life-limiting illnesses during this time.

“Hospice East Rand is having a challenging time with Covid-19,” said marketing and media liaison Jonquil Siepman.

“When budgeting, we never anticipated the need for all the additional personal protective equipment (PPE) we’d need with a pandemic on our hands let alone fees for Covid-19 testing for our sisters.

“With our sisters being so hands-on with our patients they can’t wait for two weeks to get results through government clinics meaning that we need to utilise private facilities to get quicker results and a test costs R850 each time.

“This cost, together with the additional PPE, is a real struggle so we are hoping that by reaching out within our community, local businesses or individuals may be able to sponsor this testing for our sisters.”
