MMC for Community Safety condemns attempt to evade arrest in viral video

MMC responds after video of man being arrested by EMPD officers goes viral

The office of the Ekurhuleni MMC for Community Safety, Frans Mmoko, has noted the circulating video clip of EMPD officers effecting arrest on a member of the public who tried to resist arrest. The video, showing a group of EMPD officers arresting a man, reportedly in Springs, after an alleged altercation, went viral on social media yesterday. At present, it is not clear what led to the altercation between the man and the officers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=7&v=C3pyU39DoLw&feature=emb_logo Mmoko alleged that in the man’s attempt to evade arrest, he laid hands on an EMPD officer. “Colour or not, allow law enforcement to take effect without undermining their authority. “We also want to stress a point that we will subject our members to a review where they are at fault, but we will give our officers moral support where they are simply doing their work,” said Mmoko.
