Alleged killer, 3 Boksburg speedsters busted

EMPD Speed Law Enforcement Unit are clamping down on reckless driving

On the morning of September 5, members of the EMPD Speed Law Enforcement unit arrested three motorists for disregarding the stipulated speed limit on the N12, in Boksburg.

The nabbed drivers were detained in the Boksburg North Police Station where they were charged with reckless and negligent driving.

According to EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng, at 8.30am, officers caught a 49-year-old gun shop owner from Benoni driving a maroon Honda CRV doing 182km/h in a 120km/h zone on the freeway.

He reportedly told the police that he was rushing to his business site because of a reported armed robbery. He was, however, arrested after officers established that there was no reports of robbery at the gun shop.

The other two drivers were arrested for driving between 169 and 170km/h in a 120km/h zone on the freeway.
