EMPD rid Boksburg streets of drugs

The EMPD vowed its teams would continue to crack down on illegal activities, including drugs trade in the city

As part of their ongoing fight against illicit substance, members of the EMPD recently seized narcotics worth thousands of rand from two Boksburg communities.

Officers made the recoveries in the streets of Boksburg North and Reiger Park on September 2.

According to the EMPD spokesperson, Kobeli Mokheseng, on Wednesday afternoon patrolling EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members arrested a man and a woman after they were allegedly found in possession of narcotics.

This woman was arrested after EMPD officers reportedly found her in possession of drugs.

“A suspicious-looking 35-year-old female found idling on Protea Street in Reiger Park at about 1pm was apprehended following a body search. Officers uncovered seven ziplock bags and two plastic packs containing dagga valued at R1 100.

“Later on the day, along 13th Avenue in Boksburg North, officers found a 47-year old man in possession of 12 ziplock bags of crystal meth and one ziplock bag and three knotted plastics of khat valued at R20 500, with R3 900 cash.”

The man was taken to the Boksburg North Police Station and the woman was detained in Reiger Park police custody.
Both suspects face charges of possession and dealing in illicit substance/s and are expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
