Covid-19: New hours for visiting graves in Ekurhuleni

Visitors are urged to always adhere to Covid-19 regulations

The City of Ekurhuleni’s Parks and Cemeteries Department has opened gates to all cemeteries for residents wishing to visit graves of their loved ones.

However, due to increased burial activities, cemeteries such as Vlakfontein, Thomas Nkobi, Cambrian, Lala Ngoxolo, Bredell, Boksburg Sub Regional and Kromvlei, will only allow early morning visits from 6am until 8am, and in the afternoon 3pm to 6pm.

This is done to avoid disturbing burials taking place during the day.

“Residents wishing to conduct tombstone erecting ceremonies can do so at any time from Monday to Friday between 8am until 3pm. Only 50 people will be allowed to attend such ceremonies,” explained metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

Residents visiting gravesites are urged to keep to the Covid-19 regulations by always maintaining social distancing, wearing cloth face mask and frequently washing or sanitising hands.
