The Forgotten urgently in need of funds

The organisation helps 'The Forgotten" in the community, such as the elderly, but they don't provide financial assistance

The Forgotten East Rand is urgently in need of the community’s support to assist those in need.

The NPO was established at the end of March with the aim of feeding and assisting underprivileged residents. They have since fed thousands of people in areas such as Boksburg North, Reiger Park, Villa Liza, Blue Sky informal settlement and Andries Scribante Haven on a daily basis.

Furthermore, they also donated food to the furry friends at Paws Rehoming and other pets in need.

However, co-founder Amanda Coetzee said they noted a significant decline in donations and funds. She said now they are only able to help and feed about 200 people in the community, whereas they used to assist approximately 1 000 people.

“We still support people in areas such as Boksburg North, Reiger Park Villa Liza, and Blue Sky informal settlement. Unfortunately, we’re unable to assist the elderly at Andries Scribante Haven as we don’t have the resources anymore.Companies and individuals are suffering at the moment and our usual donors can’t support the initiative at this moment. The more contributions we receive, the more we can help,” Coetzee said.

The organisation is in need of non-perishable foods, blankets, clothing, furniture and funds.

“We want to focus on the forgotten people in our society like elderly people who are struggling to get their essentials. However, we don’t assist members of the public financially,” she added.

Coetzee expressed her sincere gratitude to all companies, individual donors and the Advertiser for supporting the initiative.”We thank everybody that helped us support the less fortunate. We really have an awesome community and we couldn’t have done it without their contribution.”
