Three arrested for Anderbolt supermarket robbery

The employer was robbed of his cellphone, the supermarket's airtime machine and cash

The Boksburg North police recently arrested three suspects, aged between 19 and 28, for business robbery and the possession of an unlicenced firearm.

A 37-year-old complainant told the police that while at work a supermarket in Anderbolt, he was approached by three men and held at gunpoint.

According to the Boksburg North police spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, the employer was robbed of his cellphone, the supermarket’s airtime machine and cash.

“Police acted swiftly and managed to arrest the three suspects. They were found in possession of the stolen items and an unlicenced firearm,” Ramaube said. “The trio have since been charged with business robbery and the possession of an unlicenced firearm and will appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.”

Col Khumbulani Mbatha, the Boksburg North SAPS station commander, has commended the officers for reacting swiftly and apprehending the suspects, recovering the stolen items and the confiscation of the firearm.
