Covid-19 forces another closure of Boksburg police station

The same police station closed its doors early this month due to Covid-19 related cases. It was, however, reopened on July 7 after all precautionary measures were concluded.

The growing spread of Covid-19 has again forced closure of the Boksburg police station on Commissioner Street.

In a statement issued to the Advertiser this morning, the police confirmed that the facility has been temporarily closed. This is after one member tested positive for Covid-19.

The station’s main building is closed for decontamination and those police officers who came into contact with the affected member have been directed to undergo testing and self-isolate as a precaution.

All communities serviced by the Boksburg police station are advised that the community service centre (CSC) will during the closure be operating from the detective building next to the police station.

However, the firearm registration centre offices will not be accessible while the main building is closed. Clients who want to access those services, including police clearance, can seek help from the nearby police station.

SAPS management apologises for any inconvenience. The CSC commander may be reached at 082 575 1740 or 011 8416858.

Should there be any challenges, the public is advised the public to contact the acting station commander Lieut Col Nthswana on 082 568 4675, acting Vispol head Capt Rapholo on 082 485 4717, Detective Head Lieut Colonel Nthswana on 082 568 4675 or the duty officer on 079 877 6521.

It’s still unclear as to when exactly the facility will be reopened, but that will only happen once all the precautionary measures have been concluded. The community will be informed when the station will be operational again.
