Leroy Merlin confirms positive Covid-19 cases

The affected employees are home observing the recommended period of isolation and are being provided with the support needed to overcome this challenging time for them and their families.

The Advertiser recently received a message from an anonymous source alleging that two staff members at Leroy Merlin have tested positive to Covid-19.

The store has since confirmed that there are positive cases of Covid-19 among their staff in store.

According to Leroy Merlin’s market and communications leader Claudia Krishna, the information was shared with their customers via the Leroy Merlin Boksburg Facebook page, as well as the Leroy Merlin Little Falls Facebook page.

She mentioned that there is also a printed notice outside of these stores.

The Advertiser visited their Facebook page and found that indeed they did post a notice for their customers on June 24.

“The affected staff are home observing the recommended period of isolation and are being provided with the support needed to overcome this challenging time for them and their families.

“Subsequent to the positive cases, the store has been sanitised overnight using the fogging sanitisation method and all recommended protocols have been followed. The sanitation will occur on a weekly basis, regardless of if there are further cases detected,” Krishna said.

Krishna added the store has also been in contact with the Department of Labour, Gauteng Department of Health and the Department of Environmental Affairs to disclose these cases as well as the protocol followed.

“We will continue to support the affected members of the team and their families and wish them well during their time of recovery,” concluded Krishna.
