EMPD recovers bakkie stolen in North Rand Road within minutes

The victim was thankful to get his bakkie back but the thieves left him with a repair bill to the vehicle's ignition

Members of the EMPD helped a victim recover his bakkie within minutes after it was stolen from a parking lot on North Rand Road, on June 27.

According to EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng, the victim parked his vehicle outside one of the shopping centres on North Rand Road and went shopping in the morning.

When he returned to the spot, the car was gone. The desperate man then flagged down patrolling members of the EMPD’s Anti-Drunken Driving unit and told them that his bakkie, a white GWM Steed double cab, has just been stolen from the parking lot of the shopping centre.
