Police officer, civilian arrested after foiled hijacking in Boksburg

The suspects were driving in a metro police vehicle fitted with blue lights and false number plates.

Members of the EMPD foiled the hijacking of a delivery truck transporting masks on the N12 in Boksburg this afternoon.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that one of the arrested suspects is an EMPD police officer.

The suspects tried to evade arrests by trying to drive away, resulting in a high-speed chase that resulted in their getaway vehicle crashing into a truck corner Rolls Royce Street and Atlas Road in Atlasville.

They are both expected to appear in court soon.

The arrested pair was allegedly part of four other suspects who managed to get away. Police are now tracing the suspects who got away.
