Checkers at Retail Park closed

The Checkers store at Retail Park has been forced to close down this morning.

The reason for the closure remains unclear at this stage, but a staff member who spoke under conditions of anonymity told the Advertiser one of their colleagues tested positive for the coronavirus.

Police officers are at the scene and customers who wanted to enter the store are being turned away.

There was a post making rounds on social media saying one of the staff members at the store tested positive for Covid-19 and those suspected to have come into contact with the member in question were asked to self-isolate for 14 days.

This publication is awaiting detailed information from the Shoprite Group.

This is a developing story and will be updated as details emerge.
