Boksburg North CPF supports the needy during lockdown

Approximately 150 people received pap and mince that afternoon and each person's hands was sanitised with a strong hand sanitiser.

The Boksburg North CPF collaborated with AfriForum, Makopano Risk Solution and Reaper Tactical Security and supplied needy people with a decent meal in First Street, Boksburg North on March 3 to support them during the lockdown.

Mark Gilpin, chairperson of the Boksburg North CPF, explained that they are aiming to feed these people every day.

They are, however, in need of the community’s assistance to make it a reality.

“We’re calling on individuals to donate items like bread towards this drive,” the chairperson explained.

“The Covid-19 and associated 21-day lockdown have ramifications for South Africans, with the homeless being among the hardest hit.

“Despite the government’s continued and dedicated efforts to provide for the homeless, we noticed that homeless and needy people in Boksburg North have been without food for days. They to continue with their basic survival activity such as selling items for recycling,” explained the chairperson.

Johan Lombard, a resident from Boksburg North who received a meal expressed his gratitude towards the CPF and security companies.

“I’m extremely thankful for the meal I received as I didn’t have anything else to eat. The lockdown hit me hard as I normally sell items such as paper for recycling. Now I don’t have any income and rely on these types of donations,” explained Johan.
