The grand finale of Miss Boksburg will be held at the Impala Park Community Hall on September 5.

The Miss Boksburg pageant is informing the public that the pageant is still going ahead despite their sash ceremony being suspended due to the lockdown.

The Advertiser caught up with Faith Gounder, organiser of the pageant.

Q: How is the lockdown going to affect the rest of the pageant?

A: Models are going to be sceptical about continuing in the pageant or for coming for rehearsals if this virus continues to spread.

Q: How do you and the models feel about the ceremony being cancelled?

A: As Miss Boksburg, we are disappointed about suspending our first event, which was the sash ceremony. It resulted in financial loss and fear, but we had to respect the president’s wishes. The models were also upset as they couldn’t meet the competitors and scouts who could have promoted their talents.

Q: How is the lockdown going to affect the modelling industry?

A: It’s going to cause challenges, such as cancellations of events, capital loss and potential sponsors pulling out.

Q: What psychological affect does the lockdown have on the models?

A: It’s causing anxiety. This might lead to a lot of larger pageants being cancelled. Models’ stress levels are rising.

Q: Do you have any advice on how models can remain positive during this uncertain time?

A: Models shouldn’t compare themselves to other competitors. They need to believe in themselves in order to attain their modelling career dreams.
