Kuselo needs your help during lockdown

Food, baby products and clothing will be welcomed, as the safe house will still be offering its essential service to abandoned children.

Kuselo Child and Youth Care Services will be in full operation during the 21-day lockdown and is in need of the public’s support during this challenging time.

The organisation will also appreciate a financial contribution and will accept a payment towards the safe house’s electricity bill. A meter number can be provided, and the sponsor can then send the voucher to Kuselo after the purchase.

Amanda Coetzee, founder of Kuselo, stressed that no donation is too small during this time where people are currently unable to drop off necessities.

“As people are now only required to do essential trips, they can no longer make trips to the safe house to make contributions. However, I’m permitted to drive around to collect donations that will help us to take care of the children in need. No donation is too small. One packet of sugar is something that we didn’t have.

“I would also like to thank community members who made a contribution towards the organisations before the lockdown. It warms my heart and it will help us a lot,” said the founder.

She explained that all policies to protect the children and staff are in place.

“Children and staff members will remain inside during the lockdown and will not receive any visitors. We regularly disinfect the house and food. Staff members and children all practise good hygiene by, for example, frequently washing their hands. Children are also aware that they should refrain from hugging each other,” Amanda explained.

Amanda further expressed her gratitude towards her hardworking staff members who are helping to look after the children.

Anybody able to assist them may contact Amanda on 072 512 7227.
