Swanepoel vows to end losing streak

“This whole thing with Covid-19 is really sad and shocking. This is definitely a time for the whole world to stand together and do what we have to do to fight this thing.”

Van Dyk Park mixed martial artist Robert ‘9mm’ Swanepoel will be vying for his first EFC win when he faces fellow South African Tommy Strydom in their welterweight fight at EFC 85.

The venue will be made official in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Swanepoel has not had the start he would’ve wished for in the EFC hexagon with his record reading 0-3-1, but told the Advertiser EFC 85 will be the end of his losing streak.

“This is a must win for me to secure my career and boost my confidence as a fighter,” explained the man known as 9mm.

“I’ve never been more ready and eager to get into the cage than I am right now.

“I haven’t had the start I wanted, but it’s definitely going to change after this fight. I never really had a solid camp and gym in the past, but also that changed as I’ve been training at Apex South with former EFC heavyweight contender Tiny Strauss as my head coach. I’m on a whole different level now,” he said, before sharing his views on the coronavirus pandemic.
