Metro is replacing stolen street lights

"We are attending to all complaints as a first priority and then followed by all other areas that were not reported. Our challenge is the high rate of vandalism.” - metro spokeseperson

Apparently the metro is in the process of replacing stolen street lights in Boksburg.

This comes after Boksburg residents complained that most of the streetlights in their respective streets are not working.

Some of the areas include Madeley Road, Boksburg East, Paul Smit Road, Beyers Park, Ilowe Street, Idada Street and Windmill Park Central.

Nhlanhla Cebekhulu, metro spokesperson, said: “All the areas mentioned is where street lights are being vandalised daily and are ongoing. For example, all Boksburg South street lights were stolen, but we are replacing them.

He said they are addressing capacity constraints through a tender, which is due for advertisement from February 28 to April 2.

“This will assist us to build capacity and address the challenges on street lights,” Cebekhulu said.
