Give yourself and your family a Fighting Chance

When the virus had just been introduced to South Africa, we here at Medicare 24 had to revise our strategy for the way forward. With various ideas being thrown around, our questions were ultimately answered upon  revision of our core values, mission and vision.

Affordable, accessible healthcare of outstanding quality is what we strive for, fighting for humanity. With this newfound motivation, our in-house experts started research and development to find a solution to the needs of the masses, which is where Mediboost was born. Since the early stages of the Coronavirus, it is common knowledge that Vitamin C, Vitamin D and Zinc are  crucial to the body in fighting the Coronavirus. Add a little Selenium to strengthen the immune system and you have an amazing supplement, not to mention that this supplement works wonders in the flu season as well. The only problem was the affordability. Buying these supplements on their own crossed the R400 mark. Many families in South Africa would not be able to pay that price per family member monthly. With this in mind, our experts developed Mediboost. The affordable, accessible, one tablet solution to ensure that you give your body a fighting chance. GET YOUR RESULTS WITHIN 15 MINUTES Covid-19 testing Has become a frequent reality for many South Africans. Individuals who work in high-risk environments, those who have symptoms associated with  Covid-19, and those who have come in contact with other infected individuals should seriously consider testing.  There are three different methods of testing for Covid-19. These include PCR testing, Antibody testing and Antigen testing. Here’s what you need to know about the different tests. PCR Testing This method of testing requires a sample to be taken from an individual (usually a nasal swab), which is then sent to a lab where the sample is heated and then cooled to change the virus’ RNA to DNA. This DNA is then magnified to confirm the virus’ presence in the sample. Though highly accurate, this method of testing is both a lengthy and expensive procedure, usually taking between 24 and 72 hours to yield results. This test is usually required if you intend on traveling abroad. Antibody Testing Antibody testing is a blood sample test that is used to detect antibodies to the Coronavirus that are usually formed between four days and a couple of weeks after infection. Therefore, this method of testing is not used to test patients for current infection as either a positive or a negative Antibody tests would still require either a PCR or Antigen test to confirm infection. Antigen Testing The latest, fastest, and most affordable test on the market. Antigen testing also requires a nasal swab, similar to PCR testing. What makes Antigen testing different is that it aims to establish the presence of proteins surrounding the Coronavirus. This is a much faster process, taking around 15 minutes to yield results. Antigen testing is also much cheaper than PCR testing although we do suggest a PCR test confirmation should you test negative with symptoms or following direct contact with an infected individual.
