Talented knitter (92) donates beanies, scarves

The Advertiser will hand over the items to Urban Ruins who will ensure the donation reaches the less fortunate in Boksburg.

The 92-year-old Daphne Braaf once again made a generous donation that will keep many heads warm this winter.

Morgan Ridge resident Noleen Braaf handed over the 50 colourful beanies and 50 scarves to the Advertiser on behalf of her mother.

Daphne was assisted by her son, Mike and friend Marcia Fayers.

The proud daughter explained that the avid knitter who lives in Durban has donated over 400 items over the past three years.

“My mother is passionate about knitting and can complete a beanie in two days. She is my inspiration,” Noleen explained.

“We saw the appeal for wool in the newspaper. We’re blessed in so many ways and wanted to give back to the less fortunate.”
