Thugs eye pricey appliances as break-ins remain rampant

Scores of homes and non-residential properties have been hit by thieves, and in some incidents these happened while the victims were asleep on the same property.

Criminals continue with break-ins in both residential and non-residential premises in Boksburg – and the police are struggling to put an end to this crime spree.

Recently reported break-ins are as follows:

• In Farrar Park, burglars forced their way into Casa do Campo Restaurant & Pub on Rondebult Road and stole two TV sets and about R5 000 in cash during the wee hours of January 19. The thieves forcefully opened the burglar door at the main entrance and the aluminium window.

• In Boksburg CBD, thieves broke into Grills and More Roadhouse and Pizzeria on Leeuwpoort Street and stole chairs sometime between 11.30pm on January 17 and 7.50am on January 18.

According to the police report, three men, described as African males, forcefully opened the security door to enter the section of the property where the chairs were being kept. They stole about 10 chairs.

• In Cason, a gang of robbers entered a residential property on Krynauw Street and robbed the occupant of the house of her belongings, including a laptop and cellphone, on January 17. The thugs were seen jumping over the fence to flee the scene.

• In Libradene, a homeowner told police he arrived home in Andrews Road on January 17 to find his home was burgled. The thieves stole his TV set, R200 in cash and Red Square alcoholic drinks. They forcefully opened the sliding door to enter the house.

• In Sunward Park, a homeowner woke up on the morning of January 16 to find that burglars had forced their way into his home on Tosca Road and stolen two pricey laptops as he was sleeping on the same property.

They forcefully opened the aluminium door to gain entry.
