Police are hunting for suspects who fled with R90K

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

The Boksburg North police are looking for the gang of thugs who robbed a 59-year-old man about R90 000 in Witfield on January 20.

They are appealing to anyone with information that might lead to the arrest of the robbers to call the Boksburg North police on 011 892 8351 or 071 675 6986.

As the Advertiser previously reported, the victim had withdrawn the large sum of money from a local bank before he was attacked at Lowther Street.

According to Boksburg North police spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, after withdrawing the money, the victim then drove in his Toyota Yaris to his friend’s house in Witfield. He was apparently being followed by the robbers.

“The victim said while he was sitting in his car parked outside the friend’s house, he noticed a white bakkie pulling over close to his car.

“All of a sudden two gunmen jumped out of the bakkie, approached the victim and threatened him with firearms, grabbed the cash and fled the scene in their getaway vehicle,” said Ramaube.
