Liqui Moly Superhero Academy celebrates Christmas early

Wearing colourful swimsuits, children at the Liqui Moly Superhero Academy, formerly known as New Beginnings Day Care, took turns on the slippery slides during a Christmas party recently.

Members from Liqui Moly, customers and partners such as Maxxis Tyres treated the children to an early Christmas as they brought along Christmas presents which consisted of stationery, clothes, sweets and toys for each child.

Melicia Labuschagne, from Liqui Moly, said the aim of party was to spoil the children and put a smile on their faces.

She said the academy is the heart of Liqui Moly and it’s a place where they can give back, invest in and bring hope to the children.

Labuschagne highlighted that during the 947 Cycle Challenge, Maxxis Tyres and Liqui Moly raised R70 000 for the academy.

“We are fortunate that many of our partners saw the opportunity to invest and add value to the centre. We are grateful to our partners who dug in their pockets to give back.

“The money raised will go towards adding new metal playground equipment to the grounds next year,” Labuschagne said.

Maxxis Tyres will also donate tyres for the vehicles at the centres as well as sand for the sand pit.

Speaking on behalf of Maxxis Tyres, Jon Wen, managing director, said they were delighted to contribute and make a difference in the lives of these children.

“Children can’t help themselves, so by us contributing to the centre is our way of meeting their needs,” Wen said.

Last year Liqui Moly, in partnership with Jam South Africa, made founder of New Beginnings Care Centre Past Stephen du Plessis’s dreams a reality in just three months by revamping the centre to the tune of R1.3-million.

The upgrades included the redesigning of the classrooms, bathrooms, new furniture, a baby changing room and a vegetable garden.

Liqui Moly has since continued to contribute to the ongoing costs, including salaries, feeding scheme, psychiatric counselling and soccer training.

They also maintain other needs, like Liqui Moly oils and lubricants for the centre’s vehicles and equipment.
