Suspects caught driving a stolen car with house break-in implements

Station commander Col Kumbulani Mbatha applauded the officers for apprehending the suspects.

Members of the Boksburg North SAPS crime prevention, with the assistance of other security clusters, recently arrested three suspects who were driving a reported stolen vehicle.

The vehicle was believed to have been used to commit a string of house break-ins in Brakenhurst.

According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Justice Ramaube, the officers spotted the vehicle – a dark grey BMW – at Field Street in Witfield and a chase ensued.

“The suspects where cornered at the Jetpark on-ramp. An investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen in Middelburg, Mpumalanga,” said Ramaube.

Ramaube said when the police searched the vehicle, house break-in implements, such as a four-pound hammer, a crowbar, as well as cards belonging to victims who opened cases in Brakenhurst were recovered.

“All three suspects were detained at the Boksburg North SAPS and will be charged with possession of a stolen vehicle fitted with wrong registration numbers and possession of house break-in implements,” Ramaube said.
