Feeding scheme shows appreciation to staff

The feeding scheme is not a registered NGO and relies entirely on donations from individuals, organisations and the community at large to sustain the fund.

One of Rotary Club of Boksburg Lake’s projects is the Lona Kruger Feeding Scheme, which they have been supporting for quite some time now.

Recently the scheme hosted a ladies’ tea at the Witfield NG Kerk.

Among the attendees were some of the women who work for the scheme as well as the donors.

The event was aimed at showing support and appreciation for their hard work and contributions.

The scheme was founded in 1992 when a number of voluntary workers heard about the dire needs of learners at various primary schools in Boksburg.

Some of the women who attended the Lona Kruger Feeding Scheme ladies’ tea is are Christine Uys, Marlene Cilliers and Mari Roelofse.

It feeds hundreds of learners from Laerskool Witfield and Goedehoop.

The feeding scheme, which has been running for 27 years, provides nutritional food to these learners, and often these are the only meals they have to eat the entire day.

Anyone willing to assist the feeding scheme in any way may contact them via email at hesterpuma@hvtransport.com or dollypotgieter67@gmail.com.
