Kuselo acknowledges local heroes for their support

The objective of the day was to honour those who work in close association with the organisation to make a difference in the lives of children and families in crisis.

Kuselo Child and Youth Care Services recently hosted a special My Hero Day at the Reach Church in Boksburg North.

Kuselo, based in Boksburg, is a service provider for abused and neglected children who are removed from their homes for a period of 90 days through statutory processes such as the welfare/SAPS while the investigation is pending.

This NPO receives donations and support from all over the community and works closely with the Boksburg North SAPS, Boksburg Clinic and other NPOs.

According to Amanda Coetzee, the founder of Kuselo, there are so many heroes in the community who work behind the scenes who deserve acknowledgement.

“It’s vital to thank everybody who helped this organisation. Without all these heroes we wouldn’t be able to help all these families and children in need,” said Coetzee.

“Child protection can be a thankless job. People might not see the valuable work you do in the community, but we do. Every little thing you do in the community is appreciated.”

Coetzee touched the hearts of guests with her testimonial.

“My personal hero is my sister Rika Kramm,” said Coetzee.

“I got diagnosed with cancer at an early age and the prospects were not looking good, but my sister was still there for me. When I planned to move to Johannesburg to establish a Kuselo organisation in Gauteng, she stood by me.”

A certificate of gratitude were awarded to EMS Chaplaincy and Trauma Support, Search and Rescue, Reach Church, Boksburg North Clinic, Tambo Babies, Pink Ladies, SA Scouts, Kidz Clinic Boksburg, EMS Boksburg and Department of Social Development, among other.

“We thank them for the work they do in the community and for children in crisis. This is our way of giving gratitude to all those who show sacrifice and commitment to inspire and aspire children in crisis.”
