We are celebrating Cook & Culture’s first birthday! Here are some tips and tricks for the most spectacular celebration.

We have a big surprise for you: Cook & Culture now has a weekly slot on Caxton Radio.

Digital

There is a wide variety of apps you can download to help you keep track of the guest list. You can also create a Facebook event that will help remind guests of the date, and it is an easy way to share necessary information.

Social media can really help boost your event or celebration, but be careful, nobody likes a WhatsApp group or Facebook group that is spammed with messages or comments that have nothing to do with the actual event. So keep it short and sweet.

Pro Party Tip

A save-the-date is always a good idea. Our lives are so rushed and busy that a save-the-date will help guests plan ahead and make sure they are available well in advance.

It is also advisable to politely remind your guests a day before the RSVP date. Make an effort to seem excited and welcoming to your guests. If you are eager and excited for them to come, they will be too. So give out good vibes.

Party Remedy

Have fun! Don’t be a drag. Boogie the night away and if you are having a drink, keep these party remedies in mind. There are a few boosters you can take before consuming alcohol, so make them your friends.

Stay hydrated; you can still have a good time and feel good the day after by alternating each drink with a glass of water. Don’t drink and drive. Party hard, but be smart. Have a ball, but be responsible.

Check It Out

Take your celebration to the next level by adding a fun or dramatic theme. Check out cool themes and decoration ideas on Pinterest. You can also find loads of inspiration for food and costumes on Instagram. Don’t be scared, go all out and make it a night your guests will never forget.

Community Star

You can share your celebration with those less fortunate, by donating food, party gifts, drinks and all the bells and whistles that you did not get a chance to use to a local charity. We always buy too much when we are in the mood for celebration, so remember, sharing is caring.

Have You Heard It Yet?

We have a big surprise for you: Cook & Culture now has a weekly slot on Caxton Radio. Tell all your family and friends, and listen to us chat about the best local cook and culture trends every Tuesday from 12 noon to 1pm.  Stream it from your local newspaper website.

Local is Lekker

If you are not hosting your celebration at home, find inspirations for the best restaurants, bars and venues from the Best of Ekurhuleni winners! See who Ekurhuleni voted for as the best places to create your celebration station.

Food For Thought

Be a good host/hostess by showing hospitality and care at your event. Invite all your friends and family who you want to have there.

Don’t worry too much about who will get along or who will come or won’t. Just invite who you like, and the celebration will ensure a good time for all. If you are a guest, be open-minded to meeting and partying with new people. And don’t be boring. Dress up, show up and be the life of the party.

Party Plates

With any celebration’s food and drinks, attention to detail is key. Start the night on a high with extravagant welcome drinks. Pop an edible flower in your bubbly to woo the guests as they enter.

Take the welcome drinks to the next level with a fancy glass. You can basically serve anything, but if it is in a fabulous glass, your guests will feel like royalty. Canapés are a perfect start to your soirée and enjoyable. Have a variety of seafood, vegetable, and meat canapés.

The Russians got it right thousands of years ago with blinis. Blinis are an easy option, but delicious and elegant. Add the last bit of magic to a celebration with a tray of “lick your lips” chocolate truffles for guests to enjoy with their coffee at the end of the night or at the door on their way out.
