Local store robbed by six armed men

The robbery took place on October 11 around 8am at a store on the corner of Rietfontein and Rondebult roads.

A customer was hit on the back of his head with a firearm while another was shot in the thigh after resisting to hand over his cellphone to thugs during a business robbery.

According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, six men stormed into the store and robbed customers at gun point.

“The owner of the store alleged he saw the men approaching the shop while looking suspicious. He then pressed the panic button,” he said.

Ramaube said customers were ordered to lie down on the floor. One of the customers was then accosted.

“The suspects first robbed customers of their cellphones and wallets before proceeding to steal cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of money,” Ramaube said.

“While the suspects were leaving the store, they attempted to steal another customer’s cellphone who then resisted and was shot. Suspects fled the scene in a Toyata Corrolla.”

Police are still looking for the six men while the investigation is still continuing.

“We appeal to members of the public to help us with information that could led to the arrest of the suspects,” Ramaube said.
