Car thieves still active in city

Remain vigilant when parking your vehicle

• A construction worker’s bakkie, a white Isuzu, was stolen while parked in the parking lot of Parkrand Shopping Centre on September 26. The complainant told police he parked the vehicle at about 1.40pm and went to do some building maintenance work at the centre.

When it was time to go home, he went back to the parking lot to find that thieves had stolen his bakkie, leaving him without a vehicle to travel home. The vehicle is not insured.

• Thieves stole a Nissan bakkie within a few minutes after the owner parked it in the roadside parking on Commissioner Street, Boksburg CBD, at about 7pm on September 27.

The driver parked his vehicle next to Absa bank and went to the ATM to withdraw money, but when he returned to the spot after a few minutes, the bakkie was gone.

It is fitted with a tracking device, but it’s unclear if it is insured.
