Watch: Customer robbed of his Rolex watch in fast food restaurant
In the video doing the rounds on social media, two men are seen snatching the watch from the victim’s hand, and leaving the food store.
A 52-year-old man was robbed of his Rolex watch worth R50 000 at McDonald’s in North Rand Road on September 25.
According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson, Const Justice Ramaube, the incident took place around noon while the victim was sitting inside the restaurant.
“The victim was approached by two men while he was sitting inside McDonald’s. One of the suspects grabbed the victim while the other suspect put a knife to his neck.
“The suspects then took off his silver Rolex wristwatch,” Ramaube said.
Ramaube said the suspects also wanted take his cellphone, but he resisted handing it over. That was when they decided to leave him.
The victim sustained minor injury on his neck cause by the knife. It is reported that the suspects fled the scene in a gold Corolla vehicle.
A case of robbery with any instrument other than a firearm was opened at Boksburg North SAPS.
The case is being investigated, and no arrests have been made yet.
