District governor visits Rotary Club of Boksburg

They visited Rotary Club of Boksburg at their club house at the Boksburg Rugby Stadium on September 4. The visit was part of the DG's role of visiting various clubs in his district.

Every year, Rotary appoints a new district governor (DG) for each district.

For District 9400, DG Ann and DG Maurice Stander from Haeneltsburg in Limpopo were appointed to lead until June 2020.

During these meetings, the district governor addresses matters of his choice with some fellowship with all club members.

Addressing Rotary Club of Boksburg members, Stander said: “The club’s projects are phenomenal and if you handle them correctly they could easily qualify for the global grants. You can think and do more with less effort by using the grant system.

“You could gear the project to much bigger projects that can have a bigger impact, especially for children, as I hear children are the passion of the club.”

Della Faille, a long-term Youth Exchange (YEX) student from Belgium, speaks about her experience so far of being in South Africa. With her is her host sister, Indira Naidoo.

He advised the club to be more involved in the district.

“When you attend the district conferences you meet and mingle with other Rotarians where you share ideas and it widens your thoughts. I was very pleased to hear that as a club you get reaction from your Facebook page.

“What I have noticed about this club and would like to commend you for is that you do a lot of things correctly. You have a huge history and good leadership. I am concerned though about the size of membership,” Stander said.

Boksburg High School learner Jordan Sardinia spoke about his expectations for his trip to Italy as a short-term Youth Exchange (YEX) student.

He urged the club members to encourage more people in and around Boksburg to join the club in order to grow Rotary.
