Witfield Park Retirement Village celebrates Casual Day

Casual Day is South Africa’s leading fund-raising and awareness campaign for persons with disabilities and is the flagship project of the National Council of and for persons with disabilities.

Witfield Park Retirement Centre staff members and residents supported Casual Day 2019 on September 6 by assisting the Ithembelihle LSEN School in selling stickers.

The campaign encourages the public to contribute financially through a small donation of R10 for a sticker. It also lobbies for the full inclusion and equity of persons with disabilities. Not only does it raise funds, but it also raises awareness of the challenges and potential of the community in a fun way.

The theme of this this year’s Casual Day was Time to Shine.

The retirement village raised approximately R1 000 in sales of the the stickers, given by the school.

The residents were also rewarded with a cup of coffee in the centre’s dining hall for supporting this worthy cause. They also received marshmallows to enjoy with their coffee.
