Some pools in Boksburg still closed as swimming season opens in the metro

The pools in Reiger Park and Boksburg North have opened and are fully functional.

 

Despite the City of Ekurhuleni saying community swimming pools are ready to welcome patrons for the beginning of the swimming season, some of the pools in Boksburg are still closed.

According to Themba Gadebe, metro spokesperson, the spring/summer season brings with it the need to deep into a crystal clean pool for a splish splash.

“As such, the City’ pools have been rehabilitated and renovated while others are being built from scratch to prepare for the swimming season,” said Gadebe.

 

According to the metro, the community pools in Parkdene (due to staff shortage) and Van Dyk Park (finalising appointment of contractors for rehabilitation of pool) is still closed.

The Atlasville pool will open on October 1.

“The City has resolved to keep designated community pools opened for the upcoming festive season. All pools will be closed for the December holidays on December 25 and 26 and January 1, no leave days will be approved for any pool staff during this period,” said Gadebe.

Ekurhuleni has three types of pool categories with different facilities.

Category A boasts indoor heated swimming pool and is an arena for competitive swimming competitions while category B pools are mainly outdoor pools with grand stands and category C pools are standard with basic amenities.

Entrance fee to community pools according to their categories are as follows:

Category A – R15  per person

Category B – R10 per person

Category C – R5 per person
