NPOs need donations to continue helping 2 500 people in the community

The public can also support Ansa’s ‘Ope Lig Diens’ every Sunday morning at her house in Van Dyk Park.

Ansa Mostert is urgently in need of donations to keep her late partner’s legacy alive.

Pastor Barend Botes, founder of the NPOs Bethlehem House of Bread and CPI Helping Hand, died on May 13.

Ansa is now determined to continue the good work he did in the community.

The two NPOs support approximately 2 500 people by supplying food and fresh vegetables.

This includes families, Van Dyk and Boksburg North residents, organisations such as Palm Ridge, Lede in Christus Kerk in Elspark, and homes for disabled people and cancer patients in Springs and Brakpan, respectively.

“I try to help where possible. We receive donations from Woolworths and Freshline; however, the high demand of people in need is making it difficult to help everybody,” said Ansa.

“It would be appreciated if the community could donate non-perishable food such as soya mince and bread for the soup kitchen in Boksburg North. We’re also in need of clothes.

“The public can support our ‘krap en vat dag’ where they can donate clothes that will be given to the needy.”

She added that they are also in need of a bigger trailer, preferably with refrigeration.

“Our trailer is too small and is constantly full. A bigger trailer can help us save money as we’ll be able to fit more food in the trailer. We’re even willing to build the trailer ourselves if somebody could donate the parts to us.

“I spend an enormous amount of money on petrol, so fuel sponsorship will also come in handy.”
