Police arrest woman allegedly involved in chocolate, cellphone robberies

An estimated value of the stolen items was R300 000.

A 27-year-old woman who was allegedly involved in a business robbery with 15 other suspects in Jet Park has been arrested on August 26.

The woman was arrested in Roodepoort by the Boksburg North SAPS Trio Task Team led by Det WO Robert Ngomane.

The incident happened a few weeks ago when the suspects held up the security guards and employees at gunpoint. They ordered them to load boxes of chocolates into the two trucks they had arrived in.

According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, the woman has been linked to several cases of business robberies within the Boksburg area.

“During investigations, it was discovered that she had been involved in a business robbery that happened on April 17 at a local company in Anderbolt.

On the day of the robbery, victims were pointed at with firearms and the following items were allegedly taken: an iPhone Max, iPhone 8, MI, computer box, hard drive, handbag and cash. The total estimated value of the items is R43 000. Investigations revealed the woman was allegedly not alone but with five other male suspects in the April 17 robbery,” Ramaube said.

Ramaube said in both incidents the suspect was caught on CCTV footage which possibly linked her to the robberies.

Investigations are still continuing on these robberies and police are still searching for the 15 other suspects in the Jet Park robbery.
