Rotary Club Boksburg exhibits its services at industrial expo

Rotary International’s slogan has recently been changed to "Rotary Connects the World", which awakened many Rotary brains to the real necessity for all service organisations to connect with each other and businesses throughout the world.

Rotary recently exhibited at the East Rand Industrial and Business Expo held at Carnival City Sun Park from July 23 to 25.

A few weeks ago, Rotary Club Boksburg’s treasurer, Jeaninne de Beer, became aware of the intended expo to have Rotary exhibit their services.

According to public relations officer for Rotary Club Boksburg Elsa Venter, Jeaninne took a stand at the expo and arranged for club members to help her man the stall.

“The aim of participating at the expo was to expose Rotary more for its projects which are largely of a charitable nature.

“Rotary’s charitable projects make interesting reading material for readers in general, but wider exposure of Rotary’s other activities, and possibilities created by such activities, are equally important in Rotary business,” she said.

Rotary Club of Boksburg not only gained exposure from mingling with visitors and other exhibitors at their lively stall during the three-day expo, but also from the club’s inclusion in the expo’s advertising magazine.

Former president of Rotary Club Boksburg Derek Fox, an enthusiastic business person, explained the possibilities of cooperation between Rotary and businesses partners all over the world.

Strong-minded business Rotarians, such as former president Derek Fox, have been advocating this connection for years. Rotary boasts a membership of 1.2 million worldwide and clubs in virtually every city.

“Fund-raising is a general serious requirement, as are membership extension and contacts with partners to enable clubs to be able to achieve their goals and create awareness of Rotary and its golden community service heart.

“Attending the expo was a completely new concept of letting the public and private sector know about Rotary, its long-term visions and goals and what will be going on in Rotary during the coming months,” Venter said.
