Delivery of drugs along North Rand Road thwarted

The three were expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) members on Saturday, July 27 acted on information provided by a reliable source that three persons travelling in a vehicle were en route to deliver drugs to a dealer who operates on North Rand Road near the Boksburg flea market.

According to chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson, the effort bore fruit as three suspects found in possession of narcotics valued at R6 200 were arrested.

“Armed with the description of both the suspects and the vehicle they would be travelling in, the DEU members jumped into action and were able to stop the vehicle on North Rand Road.

“Seventeen packets of nyaope valued at R1 700 were found on one of the occupants of the vehicle and 11 pieces of crack cocaine with 31 nyaope packets valued at R4 500 from the other two occupants.”

He said the trio aged 30, 37 and 39 was arrested and detained at Boksburg North police station on charges of possession and dealing in narcotics.
