Atlas Road robbery victim speaks out

"I am doing fine; I’m just suffering from a bit of anxiety, but I’m dealing with it slowly,”

The woman who was robbed during the day on July 13 while at a traffic light in Atlas Road is still recovering from trauma after the ordeal.

Video footage of her robbery made rounds on social media last week.

In the video, the Hyundai follows the targeted vehicle to the traffic light, where three armed assailants get out of their vehicle and rob the motorist.

The victim, who is a Boksburg resident and who wishes to remain anonymous, said on the day of the robbery she was returning from Woodmead Mall when she noticed a white Hyundai i10 following her.

“I was alone in the vehicle. The suspects’ vehicle’s windows were tinted, so I couldn’t see inside as they followed me from Woodmead to Atlas Road, where they attacked me.

She thanked another motorist, who in the video is driving a Volvo.

“That man tried to help me. He truly was brave, he didn’t have to do that. His bravery is much appreciated,” she said.

Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube said the suspects allegedly demanded the woman’s jewellery, handbag and cellphone then fled the scene.

A case of armed robbery was opened at the Boksburg North SAPS.
