Suspected stolen Ford Ranger confiscated in Boksburg, three arrested

The recovered vehicle was taken to SAPS Van Ryn Deep pound in Benoni while the suspects were locked up at Boksburg North police station.

 

A stolen Ford Ranger was recovered in Boksburg by the EMPD Community Liaison Unit in a joint effort with the SAPS members.

According to chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson, three male occupants of the Ford Ranger were arrested and charged with possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle at Boksburg North police station.

The vehicle is linked with a case opened at the Boschkop police station.

“When stopped in Boksburg North by the police, the Ford Ranger was found with false number plates. Over and above, stones suspected to be from illegal mining were found in the vehicle,” said Kgasago.

The suspected zama-zama rocks found in the recovered Ford Ranger.The arrested trio aged 36, 38 and 40 was charged with possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle and was expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
