Boksburg’s skyrocketing crime rate demands action

Below are some of the serious crimes of robberies and burglaries recently reported to the Boksburg police:

Robbed

* On July 12, a gang of robbers tied up security guards, locked them in a guardroom and stole goods from a business in Comet. The personnel told the police that the thugs, described as five African men, stormed the property and threatened them with firearms before stealing their cellphones, handheld portable radio, two stamping machines and a wheelbarrow.

* Police are hunting two men who robbed the supermarket at 280 Trichardts Road in Parkdene on July 13. According to the police report, the pair entered the supermarket and grabbed a bottle of cooldrink and deodorant spray.

* They then proceeded to the tills pretending to be customers. All of a sudden, one of them drew a firearm and aimed it at the cashier while demanding money. They took R2 000 and fled the scene.

No shots were fired and no injuries reported.

Burgled

* In the Boksburg CBD, thieves forced their way into a clothing store and stole clothes sometime between 5pm July 10 and 9am July 11.

* Thieves forced their way into The Gas Tank Pub & Grill in Libradene and stole alcohol sometime during the night between July 11 and 12. The stolen alcohol is insured.

* In Freeway Park, thieves forced their way into a residential property on Lynn Road and stole valuable goods on July 13. Stolen goods include a PlayStation, Hisense TV and laptop.

* In Boksburg East, thugs forced their way into Augusta Steel on Van Dyk Road and stole goods worth about R112 000 over the weekend. The stolen goods include four computers.
