Stolen vehicle recovered in Boksburg

The recovered silver VW Golf was taken to SAPS Van Ryn pound in Benoni for safekeeping and further investigations.

The EMPD Equestrian Unit members on the morning of Saturday, July 13 were alerted by the Tracker company about a VW Golf that was reportedly stolen during a housebreaking in the past week in Nigel.

According to chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson, the movement of the vehicle was detected in Boksburg area.

“A swift response by both Tracker officials and EMPD  together with SAPS Flying Squad sighted the vehicle around 7am near the N12 Freeway in Boksburg where it was cornered,” said  Kgasago.

He said the driver, a woman (27) , was arrested.

“The woman claimed that the vehicle belonged to her late ex-fiancée, hence she without permission apparently took the VW Golf from Nigel against her late fiancée father’s wishes.

“It emerged that the whole saga is seemingly a family feud. Nevertheless, the woman was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle at Boksburg North police station and she’s due for a court appearance on Monday in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court.”
