Police recover four assault rifles and unlicensed live ammunition in Boksburg

A 34-year-old woman was arrested.

 

The Boksburg North police have seized four assault rifles of different caliber and 344 rounds of live ammunition in Angelo informal settlement on June 21.

According to Boksburg North SAPS, Const Justice Ramaube, through the diligent driven operation carried out by members of the Boksburg North Tri Task Team and the Benoni Tracing Team. they managed to arrest a 34-year-old suspect.

“It is alleged that the woman failed to give clear explanation to the police about the bag containing the firearms.

“According to the woman, the bag containing the firearms was left by a known friend who lives with her at their rented shack,” said Ramaube.

Ramaube said the woman’s longtime friend, who is believed to be on the run, is wanted by the police for two previous cases of house robbery reported at the Boksburg North SAPS and another one linked to Crystal Park.

“The recovered firearms and ammunition are believed to have been taken during house robberies in the Boksburg North area. The police are continuing to look for the second suspect believed to be the mastermind behind the robberies,” Ramaube said.

Further investigations are continuing while the arrested suspect have been detained and will appear in court soon.
