A 1972 VW Beetle will be driven over 14 500km from Cape Town, through Africa to Brasnov, Romania, leaving on July 13 from the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital in Johannesburg.
The Boikanyo Bug will be raising funds to help save underprivileged children who cannot afford to have heart surgery.
The goal is to cross the finish line at the World Round Table meeting in August 2019 .

Boikanyo Foundation was registered as a non-profit organisation (NPO) started by the Round Table Golden East 181 Association in 2006 to provide funding for life-saving heart surgeries for children from South Africa’s poorest communities.
To date, more than 80 open-heart surgeries have been conducted with the funding from the foundation.
But 80 surgeries is not enough.
The Boikanyo Foundation and the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital have been working together to reduce the waiting list for these heart surgeries.
