The Ekurhuleni metro will appoint security guards to oversee the safety of the public and the council’s assets once the upgrading of the Boksburg Lake is completed.
This is according to metro spokesperson, Themba Gadebe.
This comes after the Advertiser noticed adults gaining access to the park through an open space while children scaled the gate because gates were locked on May 4.
A local crèche recently visited the park to celebrate a birthday party for one of their learners. The teachers complimented the metro officials for the park, but raised concerns that it had no ablution facilities.
Gadebe said the park was not opened because they were waiting for the delivery of mobile toilets.
“However, we are now open to the public because there are mobile ablution facilities. The mobile ablution facility is an interim measure pending the building control approvals to construct permanent ablution facilities,” Gadebe said.
